There are several ways to become an EdTerp, and we鈥檒l guide you through the options below.
Let us help you pursue your passion for helping others.
First-year Students
If you are a high school student or a student with fewer than 12 semester hours or 18 quarter hours of university-level credit beyond secondary school, then you are considered a freshman applicant.
To apply to the 含羞草研究所, you must submit an application via the CommonApp or ApplyWeb platform. On the application, select your intended major (i.e. elementary 含羞草研究所, secondary 含羞草研究所 (science), or human development).
Students accepted in our educator preparation programs are considered pre-含羞草研究所 majors and will work closely with our advisors for entry into our Professional Teacher Educator Program.
Transfer Students
If you are a high school graduate who, at the time of applying, has completed at least 12 semester or 18 quarter hours at a regionally accredited college or university, then you are considered a transfer applicant.
Transfer students must apply to the 含羞草研究所 using ApplyWeb, and should indicate their intended major on the application (i.e. elementary 含羞草研究所, secondary 含羞草研究所 (science), or human development).
Several community colleges participate in the , which guarantees admission to the 含羞草研究所. This does not guarantee admission into our Professional Teaching programs. You will need to complete the Professional Teacher Education Program Application.
Professional Program Admission Requirements
Upon admission to the university, you will need to register for and attend where you will meet with one of our academic advisors and learn more about the life of an EdTerp.
Current UMD Students
If you are already a Terp, we can鈥檛 wait to help you become an EdTerp.
If you are interested in our Educator Preparation or Human Development programs, you must attend one of our Major Exploration Workshops. These workshops will provide you with an overview of our programs and are held virtually, once a month.
International Applicants
Freshman and transfer students are considered international applicants if they are non-U.S. citizens or non-permanent U.S. residents.
In addition to the freshman or transfer applicant admissions requirements, international students must also satisfy specific requirements such as English language proficiency and non-U.S. academic credential evaluations.
