GOAL 1

Boost engagement with learning opportunities in the College of Education.

OBJECTIVES

  • Generate and broaden access to new courses and degree programs aligned with societal needs and student interests.
  • Encourage broader participation in the College of Education’s experiential learning opportunities.
  • Create innovative learning opportunities and preparatory pathways that support the educator workforce.

GOAL 2

Sustain equitable learning environments that support diverse learners and advance º¬Ðß²ÝÑо¿Ëùal justice.

OBJECTIVES

  • Expand knowledge and use of culturally sustaining teaching approaches, universal design and inclusive pedagogies. 
  • Recognize and reward faculty for exemplary teaching and mentorship that engages equity-based principles and inclusive practices.
  • Implement structures to assess and promote progress toward teaching and learning goals that integrate inclusive curricula, enhance equity in outcomes and serve diverse communities. 

GOAL 3

Advance understanding and application of emerging technologies in teaching and learning.

OBJECTIVES 

  • Expand understanding about the promises and challenges of applying various technologies in º¬Ðß²ÝÑо¿Ëùal and developmental contexts.
  • Explore ways to leverage AI and data science to advance equity in º¬Ðß²ÝÑо¿Ëù, counseling, human development and quantitative methodology.
  • Ensure EdTerps’ expertise guides partnerships that encourage innovative and ethical applications of AI and emergent technologies in º¬Ðß²ÝÑо¿Ëù, counseling, human development and quantitative methodology.

 

We Take on Humanity’s Grand Challenges

GOAL 1

Accelerate scholarship that informs solutions to grand challenges in schools and society.  

OBJECTIVES

  • Strategically recruit and hire faculty that are pursuing new directions in º¬Ðß²ÝÑо¿Ëù, counseling, human development and quantitative methodology, including applying and using technology, AI and data science across these fields. 
  • Create spaces that facilitate engagement in rigorous, collaborative research and creative activities.  
  • Increase resources that support EdTerps’ efforts to pursue, secure and sustain external funding opportunities.

GOAL 2

Become the go-to resource for research and programming that inform policy, transform practice and advance equity in º¬Ðß²ÝÑо¿Ëù, counseling, human development and quantitative methodology.  

OBJECTIVES

  • Amplify communication and messaging about the real-world impact of the College of Education’s academic programs, scholarship and creative activities. 
  • Build EdTerps’ capacity to disseminate, communicate and translate their work. 
  • Improve organization of and access to College of Education experts and information to create a more seamless experience for external stakeholders and audiences.

GOAL 3

Prepare EdTerps to engage in and lead efforts to transform º¬Ðß²ÝÑо¿Ëù for good.

OBJECTIVES

  • Expand opportunities to explore grand challenges in º¬Ðß²ÝÑо¿Ëù and human development, as well as their impact on society.
  • Increase EdTerps’ agency and build leadership capacity to effect change and advance the public good. 
  • Promote opportunities to learn about diverse career pathways and opportunities that can impact youth, º¬Ðß²ÝÑо¿Ëù and human development.

 

We Invest in People and Communities

GOAL 1

Enhance faculty, staff and student diversity to better support and represent the communities we aim to teach, serve and engage.

OBJECTIVES

  • Ensure all EdTerps, particularly those embracing marginalized and minoritized identities, succeed and thrive.
  • Increase the racial diversity of students recruited to and successfully completing College of Education programs. 
  • Foster a culture that celebrates diversity, practices inclusion and advances equity through scholarship, teaching and practice.

GOAL 2

Foster well-being and a sense of belonging within the College of Education community.

OBJECTIVES 

  • Identify important factors in and opportunities to support well-being and community connections. 
  • Intentionally onboard and introduce new EdTerps to the College of Education and the º¬Ðß²ÝÑо¿Ëù. 
  • Produce community activities and interventions that support holistic health and connection.

GOAL 3

Unlock EdTerps’ potential, increasing their ability to achieve their goals and become leaders in their respective fields.

OBJECTIVES

  • Strengthen infrastructure to promote excellence, retention and advancement.
  • Expand access to and engagement in high-quality mentoring interactions and relationships.
  • Increase opportunities for intentional career exploration and professional development. 

GOAL 4

Create a validating and inspiring environment for EdTerps to interact, learn and work.

OBJECTIVES

  • Advance plans to reenvision and renovate the Benjamin Building.
  • Maximize and enhance physical spaces that optimize opportunities for innovation, connection and collaboration. 
  • Collaborate to coconstruct affinity spaces that reflect and support our diverse community and the populations we serve.

 

We Partner to Advance the Public Good

GOAL 1

Activate EdTerps’ engagement in policymaking, programs and advocacy efforts that improve individual and societal outcomes. 

OBJECTIVES

  • Cultivate collaborations with government and community stakeholders that are aligned with the College of Education’s areas of focus.
  • Expand curricular and cocurricular opportunities for high-quality student civic and community engagement experiences.
  • Recognize and reward EdTerps’ involvement in impactful community and civic partnerships to advance individual outcomes and the public good. 

GOAL 2

Establish long-term relationships to support school improvement and develop the educator workforce.  

OBJECTIVES

  • Establish and cultivate both new and existing strategic institutional partnerships with early childhood programs and PK-20 organizations and institutions.
  • Formalize sustainable and mutually beneficial partnerships based on shared resources and governance.
  • Incentivize sustainable partnership efforts through policy, rewards and recognition. 

GOAL 3

Become a local and global leader in impactful, sustainable and mutually beneficial Research-Practice Partnerships (RPPs). 

OBJECTIVES

  • Build infrastructure that scales capacity to establish and sustain RPPs.
  • Incentivize, recognize and reward faculty actively engaged in equity-centered RPPs.
  • Connect and collaborate with current and prospective partners to codesign and develop RPPs.
